PSA: Kids Want To Have Fun at Weddings Too!

Little ones can be happy and relatively undemanding at weddings, but they can also be a handful (if you know, you know!). At Peppers Creek Barrel Room and Chapel, our advice for those planning a kid-friendly celebration is to do just that - plan. From interactive lawn games to an activity corner at your reception and yummy, easy-to-eat snacks, there are many ways to ensure they’re entertained and cared for on the big day.

Involve them in your ceremony in creative ways

Everyone has heard of flower girls and ring bearers, but there are plenty of other special and boredom-busting duties that children can partake in. We’ve recently seen newlyweds’ smallest guests pass out programs, help hold the gown during processionals, recite poems, and carry adorable wedding signs.

Encourage play in outdoor spaces

We love when couples opt to include lawn games here at Peppers Creek Barrel Room and Chapel. They’re so much for fun for young and old! All the grassy areas surrounding our charming venue are PRIMED for post-ceremony play too. Sack race, anyone?

Set up an indoor activity corner

Nothing says ‘yawn’ to kids more than sitting still and being quiet at the adults’ table for hours on end. The cosy corners of our barrel room make for perfect kids only zones, especially if they’re stocked with colouring and puzzles.

Food, glorious food!

There’s almost nothing worse - or more disruptive - than a hangry little person. Having a brightly coloured dessert station may technically fall under the 'bribery’ category, but it’s often really helpful for parents at your wedding. Our kitchen team at Peppers Creek Barrel Room and Chapel can arrange sweet treats and other delicious late-night snacks to both impress and occupy (at least momentarily!).

Who doesn’t love a photobooth?

Booking one of these for your wedding reception guarantees laughs and the creation of some really precious memories, trust us! Bringing along silly backdrops and props can amp up the fun factor for kids as well.
